What type of manuscripts do you edit?
We edit scientific research papers in the Life Sciences field. If you are unsure whether we can edit your paper, please contact us before placing an order.
What is included in your comprehensive scientific editing service?
We pride ourselves on offering comprehensive, scientific editing services. As part of this service, we not only address spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and clarity of writing, but we also format your complete manuscript, including references and supplemental material, to your target journal’s specifications.
Do you have different levels of editing service?
Unlike other editing sites that ask you to choose the level of editing service, we provide the highest level of editing service for all manuscripts. One price, no hidden extras. All you have to do is select the speed of service that you wish your manuscript to be returned to you.
What document formats should be used for submission?
We currently support Microsoft Word documents with a .doc file extension. Please contact us if this is not possible and we will do everything possible to assist you with your editing needs.
Can you provide references using reference-managing software?
Yes, we currently use EndNote or Mendeley to manage references in a traveling library. This allows us to easily edit your references to the format required by your chosen target journal.
Are tables included in your editing services?
Yes, tables are included in our editing services and should be submitted along with your manuscript either within the main document or as additional .doc documents. Table legends will be included in your total word count but not numerical data. We will ensure that the legends are clear and concise and that the tables are cited in the appropriate place within your manuscript and/or supplemental materials.
Are figures included in your editing services?
Yes, we will edit your figure legends and ensure that they are cited in the appropriate place within your manuscript and/or supplemental materials. We cannot edit your actual figures at this time but will provide suggested revisions if they are not annotated corrected. Please ensure that figures are included as part of your submission.
How will I see the changes in my manuscript?
We use Tack Changes in Microsoft Word to indicate any edits made to your manuscript. We will provide you with two copies of your edited manuscript: one with the changes shown in Track Changes and one with the edits accepted so that it is easier to read.
Will I receive a quote?
If you wish to receive a quote before ordering our editing services, or if your word count is over 16,000 words, please contact us including the title of the manuscript, the word count, services required, and your preferred timeline for completion. We will send you a quote within 24 hours.
How do I get an accurate word count?
Your word count consists of your complete manuscript (including table and figure legends, and supplemental material). It does not include the references or any numeric table data. You can perform a word count using the Word Count feature in Microsoft Word on all files you plan to submit for editing. This feature is typically accessed under the Microsoft Word Tools menu. If you are unsure of your word count, please contact us and we can perform this for you prior to payment.
What happens if I enter the wrong word count?
If the word count for your manuscript and supplemental material falls into a different word count bracket, we will let you know via email prior to queuing the manuscript for our editing services. Payment can then be adjusted.
Do you offer any discounts?
We offer a one-time discount of 20% for all new clients. Please use the discount code NEW20OFF at checkout. In addition, we also provide members of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) a 10% discount for all our editing services (ASRM membership will be confirmed after payment). Please use the discount code ASRM10OFF at checkout. Only one discount code can be used per transaction.
How can I pay?
You may pay by credit card, PayPal, Stripe, and bank transfer. If you wish to pay by bank transfer, please contact us for details before placing your order. This may add additional time as editing will not begin until your payment has been received.
Will I receive a payment receipt?
Yes, you will receive a payment receipt shortly after submitting payment. If you do not receive an email within 24 hours, check your spam folder. Please contact us if you are unable to locate your receipt.
How will I know you have received my manuscript?
You will receive an email within 24 hours (4 hours for Rush service) confirming that your manuscript has been accepted for editing. If there is any missing information, you will be notified.
How do I submit my manuscript for editing?
Once you have received an email confirming payment, email your files including the complete manuscript, tables, figures, EndNote traveling library (if available), and any supplemental materials, using the link provided. Tables may be submitted within the body of the manuscript or as separate .doc files. Figure legends should also be included. Figures can either be embedded within the manuscript or converted to a pdf document.
How secure is your website?
Your security is our topmost priority. All communications and transactions are protected by SSL encryption. This means that no one can access communications between you and Editologic, the content of any manuscript or file during the upload or download process, or any financial transaction.
Is the editing process confidential?
Absolutely. We take your confidentiality very seriously. All editors sign a legally binding confidentiality agreement in which they agree not to divulge the content of any manuscript to anyone else or use it in their own work.
How will I know when my manuscript is ready?
Your fully edited manuscript and any supplemental materials will be returned to you via email.
What do I do if my paper is late?
In the unlikely event that we are unable to meet your deadline, we will inform you of the delay via email and issue a 10% refund for each day your manuscript edit is delayed.
What happens if I am not happy with the work?
We value your opinion and customer service is very important to us. Please contact us immediately to discuss any concerns with the work we have provided and let us try to resolve any issues.
What happens if the journal rejected my edited paper on the grounds of language quality?
We stand by our work and will re-edit your paper for free if it is rejected by a journal for reasons of English language alone. Please provide the version of the manuscript that was submitted to the journal and the editor and/or referees comments regarding the language quality.
Will you respond to comments from the journal editors and reviewers after manuscript submission?
This is available as an additional service.
What do the additional services involve?
We offer a number of additional services including Journal Selection, Response to Reviewers, Plagiarism Review, and Manuscript Pre-review.
Will I have to pay for the editing of my manuscript again if I make revisions?
It is expected that you may wish to make changes to your edited manuscript after we have completed our professional editing services. If you make any revisions to your edited paper prior to journal submission, we will happily review these for you at no extra cost.
What is a Manuscript Pre-review and does it guarantee acceptance in our target journal?
A manuscript pre-review provides you with a critical review of your manuscript by a PhD-level scientist trained in a similar field before it is submitted for publication. Although it will greatly improve your chances of success, the reviewer process is highly subjective and involves many factors. While the quality of the research is the most important criterion, journal editors and reviewers make decisions based on several other factors. Therefore, we cannot guarantee publication, even if you use our manuscript pre-review services.
What happens if my paper is rejected by my target journal?
If your paper is rejected based on the quality of the science, we highly recommend that you utilize our Response to Reviewers service prior to resubmission. This will not only ensure that any revisions you make to your manuscript are appropriately edited and formatted, but also that the Response to Reviewers letter addresses the reviewers’ concerns.
